itinerary
Upon arrival in Dehli you will be met by our guide who will take you away from the hustle and bustle of Arrivals to your accommodation in a Haveli, a peaceful oasis – your new home, at least temporarily. The afternoon is free to explore New Delhi – the Lodi Gardens are across the road. This peaceful park is dotted with beautiful tombs. A short drive away are Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar. Alternatively, take a dip in the temperature-controlled pool and enjoy afternoon tea on the palm tree court. You decide.
Today, take to the streets of Old Delhi to experience the history, colors and flavors of this larger-than-life city. Old Delhi is a medieval setting filled with timeless bazaars and ruined alleyways. With your guide, spice up your life today at the city's Spice Market. Meet the vendors selling the traditional products – huge bags of cumin, turmeric, pepper, cardamom and more. It was these precious spices that changed the world in the Middle Ages. Christopher Columbus, looking for a quick route to India, stumbled across America. Vasco da Gama traveled around Africa in search of spices and Fernão Magalhães traveled around the world.
On the 3rd day, you will go to the beautiful riverside town of Agra. Hop aboard the Gatimann Express, India's fastest train, for a 100-minute ride to Agra. This train has hosts and china crockery. India's railway minister hailed the launch of the train as the 'new era of high-speed travel'. The first of Agra's top 2 must-see destinations is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Agra Fort. This red-hued walled city from the 11th century is the remnant of the Mughal Empire. Then we head to Agra's other icon – the Taj Mahal – at sunset.
Get up early to watch the sun rise over the impressive Taj Mahal.
This is our top pick of iconic Indian experiences. Later, it's time to head to the next point in the golden triangle, the pink city of Jaipur.
You will take a short detour to see the magnificent sandstone fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri. It was the capital of the Mughal empire between 1569 and 1586, when Emperor Akbar had to move the capital to Delhi due to the city's inadequate water supply.
After spending a night in an 18th-century haveli, hop on your bike for a morning tour of the city. Navigate the narrow city streets of Jaipur on your way to the city's fresh fruit and vegetable markets. Step outside to peruse stalls filled with everything from mangoes and papaya to okra and ginger. Watching locals argue with vendors is pure real-life street theater. The rest of the day is yours to do as you please. The city is full of magnificent palaces, vibrant markets and chic cafes. If this is your first time in Jaipur, the must-see attractions are Jantar Mantar, the Hawa Mahal Honeycomb and the fairytale Amber Fort.
Today you will be taken on a scenic drive to Udaipur. Your hotel is a small haveli of just 20 rooms in one of the best spots in town. It overlooks the lake, the city, the city palaces and the lake.
Udaipur is the most romantic city in India. Its whitewashed mansions sit beside sparkling Lake Pichola. The Aravalli hills embrace the city. Immerse yourself in Udaipur's distinctive architecture and arts. Start at the City Palace. This extravagant fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal design is filled with mirrored walls, marble balconies and the spectacular Peacock Courtyard. Stroll through the alleys of Udaipur on a journey of discovery. There are exquisite crafts on every corner.
Transfer will take you to Udaipur airport to catch your connecting flight back home.
