But there's much more to the city, including the gold-topped Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the serene Novodevichy Convent and the Kremlin. This fortress within a city synonymous with the Cold War is home to the State Armory, with its extensive royal paraphernalia and a collection of Faberge eggs.
This morning, you are free to explore Moscow on your own. If you are interested in Russian art, we suggest a visit to the Tretyakov State Gallery and its exclusive collection. In the afternoon, you will be taken to Sapsan train station for your train towards St. Petersburg. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel, your home for the next 3 nights.
St. Petersburg is the ideal place for an overdose of arts and culture, but it also includes the pulse of modern Russia. Start in the historic Baroque center, which rivals Venice for its canals.
